2022 Gold Rush Days Festival

Selling books like candy bars last Sunday at Dahlonega’s 68th Annual Gold Rush Days Festival as guest of Bear Book Market just off the Square. When I’m at these fall festivals, thousands upon thousands of people see my table. Most mosey on by, but the display draws the avid readers in like moths to a flame. That’s when the fun begins, to pitch my books, and to hear the many stories, quips, and anecdotes people share about writing and writers.

One story: A gentleman said he was a student at the University of Maine at the same time as Stephen King. He said King wrote a column for the student newspaper and that King would dress creepily, like a black trench coat and top hat. “He was so weird that if you saw him coming down the sidewalk, you’d want to cross to the other side of the street.”
